About the Lloyd Family
Over a few months in 2014/2015, Gavin and Nicky had several prophetic words spoken over their lives that confirmed their call to missions and ministry. Included in these words was a season of trial while transitioning from “on and off tent making” to full-time mission and ministry. In January of 2022, after seven years of serving in different churches and Christian organisations, they felt it now time to commit to full-time missions and ministry. Gavin and Nicky serve as missionaries in George, South Africa with their children, Julia and Michael. They have served communities, churches and Christian organisations in Port Elizabeth, Tarkastad, Lesotho and George.
Gavin has a passion to advance the kingdom of God, through serving, empowering and encouraging communities, leaders and the Body of Christ to be all they are called to be in Christ. He has a heart for reaching the lost with the Gospel and Spirit-led power evangelism so that there can be empowered workers for the harvest. He has a gift of encouragement, especially to those who are invisible to culture and society, and ministers healing and wholeness to those who are broken and hurt. In the church, Gavin carries a message of intimacy with God (knowing Him) and restoring the eyes of the church back onto Christ. He is an advocate for encouraging leaders to be mindful of unity beyond the local church.
During a trip to George in 2015, Gavin sensed a clear vision from the Lord to establish King David’s Tent as a mission base or platform. It’s purpose is to restore hearts back to God in order to reach the harvest. This vision is for the rapid equipping and sending out of missionaries to the mission field, to the church and to the marketplace. Part of the vision includes sustainability projects, agriculture, worship facilities and training facilities fused with hospitality for missionaries and the Body of Christ. Gavin felt the Lord caution him, not to build this in his own strength, but rather to let Him build, by the right alignment and partnerships for generational sustainability.
Gavin and Nicky have spent several years serving in organisations and out of this learning what works and what doesn’t. This has been part of God’s path in transitioning them from business to mission, while teaching them to live a consecrated life of faith in God.
Nicky has a gift of hospitality, a compassionate heart for children and encouraging and helping the broken-hearted. Wherever they have been, there has been a need to encourage, share and show people God’s unconditional love, grace and who they are in Christ.
